BRUCE HURD – Managing Partner

Bruce is a Managing Partner and founder of NOVO. He is currently responsible for corporate strategy, risk management, finance and accounting.

Bruce started his professional career at Credit Suisse on Wall Street as an investment banker structuring, underwriting and syndicating large industrial projects such as power plants, gold mines and paper mills.   Bruce then moved to GE Capital where he specialized in the structuring, underwriting and syndicating of international transactions.   In 2000 Bruce joined Optiglobe Communications and focused on the financing and development of data centers in Central and South America. In 2003 he partnered with Brett Summers and James Anderson to found NOVO.

Bruce has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Vermont and a Master’s of Business Administration (Finance & Corporate Strategy) from the University of Michigan.

GREG SELFRIDGE – Managing Partner

Greg is a Managing Partner of NOVO. He is currently responsible for corporate strategy, acquisitions, infill development and marketing.

Greg served on the DC Zoning Commission from 2008-2009, where he directed large-scale developments, including PUD’s, Campus Plans and Master Planned developments throughout the District of Columbia. Having supervised the acquisition, rehabilitation and management over $100M in real estate assets. Greg also led NOVO’s recent ground up development at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue SE. The project was a 77,000 square foot multi-family development on the eastern entrance to Capitol Hill. Prior to joining NOVO, Greg was a Principal at D Street Development, a residential and multi-family development company based on Capitol Hill in DC.

Greg is well-versed in development, construction and financial analysis. He earned Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park.

BRETT SUMMERS – Managing Partner

Brett is a Managing Partner and founder of NOVO. Brett is currently responsible for corporate strategy, marketing and investor relations. He also oversees NOVO’s markets outside of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

Brett has been active in the commercial real estate market since 1985. He began his career as a broker with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Service’s Washington DC office, the predecessor to CBRE, where he trained in the four major divisions of Coldwell Bank – brokerage, appraisal, finance, and property management. Brett then moved on to a senior broker position in the Tyson’s Corner, Virginia office. He has represented clients such as the Hazel/Peterson Companies, Westerra Development, and Centennial Companies in marketing office space for lease in newly developed commercial office properties. In 1993, Brett was recruited by Faison to represent the real estate interests of corporate clients in Northern Virginia. In 1998, Faison merged with Trammell Crow Companies. He continued his commercial real estate brokerage activities, but started to invest in multifamily properties in Washington, DC.

After purchasing a small portfolio of multifamily properties, Mr. Summers left Trammell Crow in 2000 to form Anderson + Summers LLC. In 2003 Anderson + Summers LLC was merged into NOVO Development Corporation. Brett earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Public Policy Studies from Duke University.

JEFF GOLDSHINE – Partner, Management Services

Jeff returns to NOVO as Partner responsible for all management services including third-party management initiatives, internal management and operations, the strategic planning and growth of our management organization, and the accomplishment of best practices in recruitment, development, operations, customer service, and strategic marketing.

Jeff has been responsible for the management of over 75,000 units in his career.  Formerly President of Middleburg Management and Chief Operating Officer of NOVO, Jeff has served as President of Mission Residential Management, where he built and ran the property operating company with a portfolio of over 15,000 apartments. Before joining Mission, Jeff helped create and served as Senior Vice President and Director of Management Operations at CAPREIT Inc., whom he joined in 1993 and rose through the ranks to assume operational and financial responsibilities for 12,000 units nationwide. He was also instrumental in the creation of Artery Property Management, a 12,000 unit management company in the early 90’s.

Jeff earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from George Washington University and earned the Certified Property Manager (CPM®) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. Jeff has been a featured speaker and panelist on a wide range of property management issues as well as being active on several industry boards and organizations.

JAMIE GLASCOTT – Partner, Chicago Region

As NOVO Partner, Jamie is responsible for acquiring, marketing, financing, leasing and managing NOVO’s multi-family properties in Chicago.

Previously Jamie worked for the Horizon Realty group and leased and managed over 300 multi-family units in Chicago. He also oversaw company growth from 300 units in 1999 to over 1000 units in 2006. Jamie supervised gut rehab of three buildings totaling over 100 units, managed a maintenance team of 12 people, and supervised one property manager and 2 assistant property managers.

Jamie is a Licensed Real Estate Sales Person certified by the state of Illinois since 2000 and an active member of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Quincy University.

JOHN FITZGERALD – Partner, Acquisitions

John is a Partner at NOVO. He is a licensed real estate broker in DC, Maryland, and Virginia and has considerable experience in residential and commercial property management. John focuses on acquisition and asset management of investment properties within the Washington, DC and South Carolina markets.

Prior to joining NOVO, John worked for Chain Bridge Properties LLC, where he led a real estate asset management business which specialized in developing and managing under-valued and under-managed residential properties in the D.C. metropolitan area. He was also General Partner and Director of Property Management for FitzGerald Properties Real Estate Management LLC, where he was responsible for managing a portfolio of over 510 residential and commercial units with an estimated value in excess of $100 million.

John has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural History from the University of Virginia and Master’s in Business Administration from McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

NEIL GORADIA – Partner, Acquisitions

Neil brings to NOVO over 10 years of development experience in multifamily and retail. He focuses on urban infill development and value-add transactions as well as public/private partnerships. Mr. Goradia is also the Owner and Principal of Tennyson Ventures, a privately held real estate development and investment company with projects in DC.

Prior to joining NOVO, Neil was a Development Partner at the Bainbridge Companies, a nationally recognized mixed-use developer, where he financed, constructed, or renovated over 1500 market rate and mixed-income units in the DC Metropolitan Area. Prior to working with Bainbridge, Neil served in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development under the Fenty administration as Real Estate Manager. In this role, he oversaw in excess of $1 billion of capital improvement and real estate projects, including several affordable housing projects and community development initiatives.

Neil is well versed in finance, development, design, construction, and municipal finance (LIHTC, NMTC, TIF and PILOT). Neil graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor’s degree and has an MBA in Real Estate and Finance from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

DARRYL SHROCK – Partner, Acquisitions

Darryl is responsible for acquiring, developing, and managing NOVO’s multi-family properties in the DC metro area. Darryl has been a Partner with NOVO since 2002.

Prior to joining NOVO, Darryl worked at American Express and AOL in marketing positions. He acquired 6 properties totaling 464 apartments and raised $8M of equity and $35M of debt. Darryl also underwrote, negotiated purchase agreements, managed due diligence, financed, and transitioned properties and management. Darryl also converted a 1950’s building into a condo, where he acquired, financed, designed, marketed, and sold 40 condominiums. He managed the construction, sales staff, and legal process of converting, created marketing materials, and managed the advertising campaign.

Darryl has a Bachelor’s from Brown University and a Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
